Volunteer

Are you interested in Mennonite history? Do you have a passion for genealogy? Do you have some spare time? If yes, then volunteering at the Mennonite Heritage Archives might be right for you!

The Mennonite Heritage Archives greatly relies on volunteer support. With only two members on staff, 19 volunteers help insure content is being digitized, records are being processed, and Mennonite stories are being preserved. Volunteers typically work at the archives once or twice a week, for three to four hours a day. The staff work with the volunteers to find tasks that fit within the volunteers interests as much as possible.

  • cataloging individual or organizational collections (fonds)
  • scanning, uploading, and describing photographs for MAID
  • sorting church records
  • organizing donated books
  • digitizing and photographing original documents
  • assist with mailing the Mennonite Historian
  • create written content

“They are a bridge between the past – present – future. Our volunteers organize, describe, find, digitize, research, and write, serving the Mennonite community. On Nov 26th we at the Mennonite Heritage Archives said thank you for all they do and so should you! This past year they contributed over 2,200 hours!” Conrad Stoesz, Archivist (November 27, 2019)
