Mennonite Reserves in
Saskatchewan (p. 176)
By 1890 most of the available land on the reserves in Manitoba
had been claimed. New immigrants and families on the reserves who wished to buy
more land moved to Saskatchewan.
In 1895 the Rosthern Reserve was created. In 1904 several townships near Swift
Current were reserved for Mennonites. The Canadian Pacific Railway had been
completed in 1885. This made the settlement in Saskatchewan
much easier.
