Halbstadt (p. 70 – 71)

Halbstadt was settled in 1804 by twenty-one families. In 1816 the village became the administrative centre for the Molotschna Colony. Under the supervision of Johann Cornies an industrial suburb known as Neuhalbstadt was developed in 1842.
