In 1925 Klassen and his family immigrated to Canada. They initially arrived in Balmoral but soon moved to Niverville. Klassen served the Niverville Mennonite Church for 27 years as minister. He was forced to retire from the ministry and sell his farm after suffering a stroke in 1960. After struggling with ill health for several years Klassen died on Novermber 30, 1964.
